A lot of it felt... Weirdly specific. I mean, the deal they offered, then finding out it was fake in the end... The fact that one of us had some kind of weird impulse to hurt everyone else. All of that seems like it might correspond to what's going on.

[he frowns.]

And it those things correspond... There was that part where we danced with - well, I imagine the rest of you were dancing with people you knew before, too. And how they all got... [...] Got punished, when we confirmed we knew who they were.

[ he nods at the first part, because he described it as oddly similar to this place to a lot of other people so he agrees. the second, though... ]

You think the same thing would happen to the staff? Or... similar.

[agleam]

I don't know for sure, but... It seems weird to think that part of it would just be a coincidence when the rest of it matched up, and they have to hide their faces, too. You know?

Yeah. I thought about that, too. You think there's any actual danger some of them get figured out?

[agleam]

A lot of them are friendly, but they seem really insistent on the fact that they can't be our friends. It's pretty easy to imagine that there's some danger here for them, too, given their boss and his whole thing.

[skyagain]

Yeah. I guess we don't have to worry about them slipping. [ the way it happened in. their adventure. he does not say ] Some people here are nosy enough it might end up an issue, though.

[agleam]

Right. I think I've pushed too much recently... Even if I don't think we can count on them too much as long as they've got other duties, that doesn't mean I want them to get hurt somehow.

How do you figure you've pushed too much?

[agleam]

I called two of them a friend yesterday and they freaked out a little. So. I should probably hold off on that going forward.

[skyagain]

That's... a lot more intense a reaction than I expected.

[agleam]

To be fair, one of them was Virgo, and I'm pretty sure they freak out about anything.

One of them also said that showing their face would be a risk, so... I'm guessing their employer is pretty strict.

Yeah, sounds like Virgo.

[ gossiping about virgo is forever ]

I figured. We had rules about showing our faces too much, too, and we didn't even have a crazy employer.

[agleam]

Yeah. So... Hopefully other people are catching on that we might need to be careful what we say around them to make sure nothing bad happens.

Right. Bringing it up in public probably isn't the greatest idea for the same reason, but I can mention it to people starting tomorrow.

Yeah. Just... try to spread the word out so there's some kind of awareness with the more... enthusiastic people.

[ he is being so nice by only calling them enthusiastic ]

Yeah. Not that it's a bad thing in theory that people want to be kind to them, but in application...

There's probably some kind of middle ground they can find.

[he hesitates for a moment, but...]

Do you think that - the end, where they lied about the contract the entire time... Do you think that could be some kind of hint or clue, too?

[skyagain]

Yeah. [ without even a moment's hesitation? damn cloud. the pessimism. ] You get a look at our actual contract for this place?

[agleam]

[he makes a face at that, uncomfortable for a second, because damn the pessimism indeed!! but cloud is valid, probably. after that moment of hesitation, though:]

I did, yeah. What about it?

Remember that bit, about how if we're alive at the end of it and in the lobby at check out time, that's when we'll have fulfilled the terms of our contract? Why specify that? Lobby's not exactly a hard place to get to right now.

[agleam]

...I assumed it was some kind of way to disqualify the people who've died, if we can't get them here.

[but it does seem strange, now that he mentions it.]

It's probably that, too. It's what I thought of it at first as well. ...But there's nothing in that contract guaranteeing access to the lobby at that time in the first place, either.

[agleam]

...Right.

[frowning! bad.]

We'll just have to find a way to keep an eye out for that possibility, and try to stop it from closing off.
