[ HERE THEY ARE AT THE BASEBALL FIELD i am using that mingle prompt even if i am not touching the mingle. cloud's twirling the bat more like it's his sword than you should a bat, probably ]
You know, the last one of these I held was full of nails. [ thinking emoji ]
The former. A bunch of kids made it for me as thanks. [ i wish i was kidding but no that's the lore. you do a mission for kids and they give you a nail bat. ] Not really my kind of weapon, but I used it for a while so it didn't go to waste.
Well, I guess kids don't have a whole lot of stuff to give you but what they can do is quick arts and crafts. [ So that's fine. ] You're a sword kinda guy, right? Based on how you're holding that thing.
Sword itself wasn't enough of a hint? [ but he says it with a hint of a smirk like he's kidding. he swings the bat properly like a baseball bat! this is part of his attack combo. he knows how it works. ] But yeah. Not a lot of time to play sports back home.
Nah, a personal thing. Been pretty busy dealing with... everything. [ being in a coma and experimented on for five years, not that remembers, it's fine, no one needs to think about that. speaking of thinking pick a memory mood ] They run some gambling sports out in the desert last I heard, so I wouldn't say they're totally against it.
[ Give me the first memory you can think of when I say 'chaotic'. ]
Huh, gambling's a way different attitude than actual sports sports though, if they're the type who like sitting around at tables, maybe baseball won't be for them.
Busy, busy guy. Guess it's better than having nothing to do, maybe.
[ What is your life Cloud, my only real experience with FF7 is my mom making me grind chocobo races for her. ]
It's watching people race Chocobos, actually. So... Probably still wouldn't be into baseball.
[ funny you say that. cloud finally lets the bat tap the ground and a shower of stardust bursts around them. very rudely so. since you said chaotic so you know I'm going to make you watch 8 minutes of 7r with no context actually "do i have to watch the entire fight" you should it gets crazier with time ]
[ I'm in tears. But also wow FF7R really is so pretty to look at. But also, help.
He just. Yeah, he sees this, all eight minutes of it. ]
...Was that a Colosseum? And you had to fight -- I know, or at least assume, this isn't gonna make sense to you, but you fought some bullshit that seriously looks like a cross between the Devil House and Jonson.
[ ff7r is so pretty. and so insane. cloud looks like he has a headache. it's not aikawa or the memory it's just remembering having to fight the hell house. ]
... Why I was in a coliseum, or why I fought an evil house? Because I can only answer one of those questions.
[ honestly you made me double check and i think it's actually colosseum in ff7 proper so who cares. genuinely. an arena. i hate english. ]
I have no clue why that house was there. But we went into that tournament to get a letter of recommendation from someone named Madam M. Had to win all the matches as her entrants to get it. Boosts her rep, she gets part of the winnings, we get the letter. That kinda deal. The house was a bonus round added at the end to keep things interesting. She was just as pissed about it as we were.
[ Points at himself and goes in a very comically tiny voice: ]
I recently started going back to school...
[ Honestly I had wondered if the most chaotic memory WOULD be the cross-dressing but this hell house is even better because I didn't know about this one. ]
Yeah, that's a lot of steps to have to get a thing. I would've just snuck in at that point. Or broken in.
[ he doesn't know schools. anyway too many people got crossdressing, but i did think about it. at least the one where cloud kicks a man while wearing high heels. it's a good one ]
Not an option. We needed to get information from the guy. Had to get in the official way, without alerting the entire sector in his control of what we're after. [ a beat ] Definitely considered it, though.
I'm going back to school. I used to go when I was a bit younger but that got derailed 'cause of reasons, but now I'm back, so I recently enrolled again.
[ Cloud out here invalidating his 26-year old school life. But also beat pause. ]
Wow, sounds like your adventures are a lot more, eh, what'd be a good word for it... big-scale? Official? I'm more of a one-off kinda guy.
[ Aikawa, whose world is ending and yet he still goes to school just to dick around there, is an outlier and cannot be counted in this equation. ]
Hmmhmm, I think they're pretty fun. Damn, if only there were better ways to do something like that around here... those group field trips definitely suck ass and are totally designed to fuck you over, so that's not great. I sure as hell don't really wanna go on one of those alone.
week 3, monday
You know, the last one of these I held was full of nails. [ thinking emoji ]

Like, as in had nails driven through it for that extra ouch factor, and not like, it had a secret compartment just to put nails in, right?
Nail bats are good for beating people up, but it's just gonna pop a baseball if you take a swing at one like that.

Actual baseball's a lot farther back.

The whole thing with the organisation ruling your world, right? Damn, they're anti-sport?

Yeah sure, hit me with the one you can actually answer.

Wooow. And you still defeated it anyway! Good for you, that's pretty impressive.
Recommendation for what, school?
no subject
[ look, listen. anyway. he shakes his head ]
It was... to get into some asshole's place. She works for the guy, but she hates his guts.
no subject
Are you not allowed to go to school if you're 21? Or what?
[ ??? ]
Ohh, cool, infiltration. It's a whole mission thing.
no subject
[ cloud is from the boondocks there were no schools there. and the shinra university is for nerds. ]
But yeah. Mission thing. Had to get three letters total to be let in. It was a drag.
[ it also involved other fun things, like crossdressing, that he is not sharing. ]

[ cloud is just WHAT IS SCHOOL still ]
Tried the one-off thing. It kind of spiraled out on me. I'd say it's more luck than anything on purpose.
[ bad luck? good luck? he does not specify ]
no subject
Just once? Maybe you just had bad weather.
[ He just assumes bad luck apparently. ]

Haven't exactly gotten the time to try solo-adventures again since. It's only been about two weeks back home.
[ "ff7r part one takes place inside a week" me, in tears: i played it for 50 hours? ]
