How's that fair, if the entire point is to see if you're "fit to exist" by stopping it?

...he intends to attempt to stop it, too, despite encouraging them to destroy it all. To erase his own memories along with ours and face the coming calamity unaware. We all know what the future holds, and how it was... somewhat forestalled.
