[small mercies... the way the bodies glitched away, at least, didn't look like they truly died.

... Return to the star, huh? At home, everyone returns to the lifestream.
[ it's not so different a concept. all ff the same??? ]
...I am given to understand it is called the lifestream, in the future, but in my time the flow of aether throughout our home is known as the Underworld, when not referred to as returning to the star itself.
It has been much the same for me-- although the fact that we manipulate aether to such a degree appears to be a sticking point, as well. I've been asked more than once if my people are gods.
I can't say anyone back home is that good at manipulating mako, but... [ he shrugs ] You saw the presentation. Might be you're a lot closer to those. Wouldn't call any of them gods, either.
[him again-- this one is more disorienting, with the noise, the explanation for it. it sounds, from the girl's explanation, almost as if something wrong with the underworld itself, or at least cloud's version of it. souls disrupted, the natural order shaken in some way.]
[ well, first of all, ow, his constant headaches. they are not getting better with these memories. but after a while of looking off into space, wincing, he answers; ]
... Changing fate. Those things you saw flying around... They're called the arbiters of fate. They show up when someone tries to alter destiny. But... him even being around is changing things, we think.
Only way to stop him was to follow. Change the future ourselves.
We only just beat him. Got out the other side. He's still around, but... those things weren't anymore. So we're on his trail. Whatever happens from now on, destiny has no say in it.
It's not just that. If he wanted to change the way things were so bad, why erase your memories? Why not actually try to work on changing things? It doesn't make sense.
[ not that cloud has the whole picture but he has a bias against people who go "hm this sucks lets just dESTROY IT ALL" ]
